Gompertz function on Ebola data

Jens Röder

1 minute read

Data are taken from the daily situation reports of the WHO.

Logisitic function does not fit well and is seriously wrong on predicting the final number of infected, because there are at least two different doubling times involved, indicated by two fits to the turning point and from the turning point. The doubling time after the turning point is about double the one before it. The Gompertz function provides a rather smooth fit.
